The future of St John's Church Yard off Tooley Street

Potters Fields

Dear parents

Potters Fields Park Management Trust are in discussions with Southwark Council about taking over the management responsibility of St John’s Church Yard, to run it as a community park.

Riverside were responsible for the initial improvements to this space, but complained when plans didn't go far enough.

We feel that this unique space should be transformed into a play area along the lines of Coram's Fields in central London.

We would like to see a new adventure playground at St John’s Church Yard to include:

swings; large slides; rocks to climb on (similar to those at St Katharine Docks); a model of Tower Bridge for balancing and walking across (with perhaps a blue cement path representing the River); a big Tower of London climbing frame surrounded by swing boats; a paddling pool; a 'growing area' for children without a garden to use; larger swings for the elderly, disabled or parents together with babies to use.

A public meeting to get ideas on what local people would like to see at St John’s Churchyard was held on:

This meeting has now taken place
